Another weekend and another new placed uncovered for our dietary needs. Actually, its not a new place for me but more for my family who has never been to Champs. It's a restaurant-pub concept that is owned and run by a rather boisterous and witty Richard Nah (I think that's how its spelled).
It is nestled (I always read about this word but rarely had the chance to use it until now. yeah for me!!) in the quite suburb of Bandar Utama at the complex called Centerpoint. It's a relatively popular spot so you can always hope on a cab and trust that it will know how to take you there. Unless of course you climbed into a Middle Eastern or African dude who is doing this illegally and not only will they not know where it is, they may now which side of the road to drive to get you there in less than 2 pieces.
It's snuggled (another word!) on the first floor and I tend to hang out there at least once a week with my business friends and its a nice neighbourhood place with all its regulars and local content. Anyway, I don't really go there for the reasonable alcohol but more for the food.
Richard likes to experiment with his food and I like his experiments. Here are some of my absolute favourites at his place.
1) Tao Yew Bak - its a local Chinese dish (I think its origination is Hokkien) where you have the black sauce stewed with garlic, mushroom, pork and egg served with rice and acar. If you have a penchant (I am using all kinds of new words man!) for salty sauce and fatty with lean pork, this is it.
2) Fried pork belly - This is a new dish that only came out last week. The pork belly is sliced thinly and then fried with garlic, onion, chili and marination until crispy.
3) Hokkien prawn mee - The serving can feed the 7 dwarfs. It comes with HUGE tiger prawns and pork ribs. The ribs are boiled so it may not have any taste but this is a dish that is well worth the extra love handles. Make sure you are well starved first though.
4) Mango Salad - Another new dish which is marinated just right with lemon, mango, cucumber, nuts and onion. Not too sourly (since that will kill my taste buds) and not too dry. It can get a bit soggy if left too long, so gotta finish it quick, after all, its an appetizer.
5) Pork noodles - It's soup with minced pork, pork spare parts and fried pork lard! I don't think I need to say more!!!
6) Baby back ribs - You have to try this at least once. It is marinated very well and cooked just right to keep its juice for it to be succulent and dry enough to let you savour the taste.
7) Fire Pork Ball - It's an appetizer of mined pork with chili padi, and other stuff which he won't tell me with taucu sauce. Goes great with anything.
8) Stinging Bacon - As the ad says, east meets west. Sliced bacon dipped in wasabi and fried. My absolute favourite.
9) Vongole Pasta - I don't remember its full name but this pasta with a hearty serving of vongole (clam la....La-La la!! That will get my foreign readers guessing) and a hearty serving of chili padi and dried chili. So this is not your normal Italian pasta baby!
10) Lady Killer Rojak - He uses slices of green apple which you dip into a rojak sauce that is spicy and addictive at the same time. A snack that is for anytime.
So next time you are there, try one of my favourites and see if it tickles you like it did me. I really enjoy myself there with the food, TV and company of friends and Richard. If you come in before 5pm, you may see Richard with his 2 ugliest bull dogs. I don't know why I mentioned it. Happy palating!! (Another new word...I am on a ROLL).
It is to reflect what a "Malay-looking, Chinese-speaking but actually an Indian" thinks about general stuff! Of course it may not always be popular but I hope it will enrich you as how my experiences and people whom I have encountered along the way have enriched me.

The Malaysian Story
Quite a lot has happened since I last wrote about a week ago. Well, we have a new Prime Minister and life has taken a turn for the better, we have good ministers who are finally focused on the job instead of making money and bringing up racial issues, there is a new racial and religious tolerance to one another and....
....we have a new type of energy that cost nothing, a cure for cancer and the common cold and pigs flying!
Our new PM, Najib still has this cloud of murder allegations above him and he is still the PM. He has come up with this 1Malaysia concept which I thought was redundant seeing that we are supposed to be one race (Malaysians, to all you idiotic bigots in the Malay heartland) anyway and after 50 years of independence, we seemed to have regressed.
Our PM first speech I thought was redundant and full of empty promises. For example, there was a whole bunch of ISA detainees released. Most of them suspected terrorists who have allegedly links to Jemaah Islamiah the alleged terrorist organization allegedly responsible for the alleged Bali bombings.
While we don't want the ISA, it doesn't mean everyone gets off scott-free!!! For goodness sake! Give them a fair trial and then decide if they should be released!! So for something like this, does it mean that the PM knew them to be innocent but still kept them locked up for up to 6 years without a trial or an end in sight? Or is he just an idiot for releasing alleged terrorist into the general public?
Then his cabinet is made up of people from the different states as in his way of thanking those states for still supporting the BN (ruling party). People who are picked not based on merits, skills or qualification but based on emotions almost always turn out to be total imbeciles....allegedly.
Then we had our by-elections where the important ones were won by the opposition. Immediately our Deputy PM, whom until now I didn't have much of an opinion but I think he is another brain dead and total waste of skin, came out to blame the defeats on the Chinese community!!! He said that the Chinese needed things like school allocations and other monetary help and the government provided but here they were voting for the opposition.
So that means, my votes are not a secret. Secondly, we non-Malays could only get our basic needs like citizenship, schools, utilities and jobs during the elections. Thirdly, it is made to look that the Malays are ALL supportive of the government! He did say that the Malays were divided between the BN and opposition but heaven would break loose from their mansion if the Malays were to be blamed in any way!!
So our poor new PM and government still thinks that the Malays support them, still thinks that the people can be bribed just before elections and still thinks that we the people, are racially divided.
The Indian "representative" in the government, MIC, was also upset with BN that they are so poorly represented in the cabinet. The only have 1 minister and I think 1 deputy minister and they responded (remember all this is for the Indian community) by saying they will pull out of the cabinet. How is that helping??!?!? They also said that the Indians did vote for the government because of their help in the campaigning. How????????
The opposition did a very good job in portraying themselves as a united front and not building parties according to races. That was the main reason they won. However, our oppositions are just as inept. First Anwar said, the government will fall by Sept 16. Not only did that not happen, there wasn't even a tinkle of it ever happening. Its like me saying I will look EXACTLY like Brad Pitt by next Sunday but then not doing anything about and just going about my normal routine.
Then on the day Najib was sworn in, he said he will release a statement "relating to Najib". Turned out it was about the defection of some people from a lowly and forgotten Indian party headed by a person no more smarter than and has the same personality of an amoeba. So it was like, "was that it?", "did we ever cared about the PPP?" and "not again Anwar!!!".
Sigh.....our country is in a recession, despite our highly qualified economists' predictions. The same oxygen thieves who raised the price of oil which raised the price of everything else and then bringing the price of oil down hoping it will lower inflation. But despite our country being in danger of slipping into a depression with jobless and crime rates increasing, these so called politicians, champions of the people are concerned about NOT teaching English anymore than that 1 subject in school, having by-elections, pig farming, noise of azan, use of the word "Allah" by non-muslims. a non-muslim quoting from the Koran, provocative pics taken in private, wierd sodomy trial and the hanging of 2 officers for the murder of a intermediate woman.
The good news for me is that the comedy of errors and happenings are going to continue and I will have more content to write about. In the meantime, do pray for our country and God help us.

Holy Week and a rather relaxing weekend
Its the Holy Week for Catholics which is the week that Christ entered into Jerusalem (on Palm Sunday) and crucified on Good Friday and rose on Easter Sunday. We normally go to church on Easter Vigil on Saturday but decided that we would wake up earlier than usual on a Sunday to attend Easter Sunday mass instead. So what does a Chindian normally do on weekends or on Holy Week?
Easter to me, is the most important and sacred of Christian celebrations. It is the ultimate show of unwavering and unselfish love for another human being. It is also the beginning of a new journey with God and his Son.
The season of Lent (40 days before Easter) is a time of reflection, penance and finding a way back to God. I, on the other hand, normally just sleep more and resolving to irritating people less during Lent. I try not to indulge in my occasional alcohol nights with my friends and business partners. I do also TRY to eat less and exercise more. More importantly, I do resolve to be more patient with my family and my colleagues.
The second part is difficult since I do have colleagues who have not evolved from the Neanderthal stage of evolution. The have less brain power than a grapefruit and even less EQ than a Gestapo agent. There are those who like to brandish politics around but do not have the skills or intelligence to follow through to ensure a total meeting of your goals.
They start to want something and then create all the political subtleties of a Silverback Gorilla during mating season, to get rid of those in front of the pecking order; letting others know what they are up to.
So its a week for me to calm down, not overreact, focus on my job and just chillin' with God. Unfortunately, I haven't done much chillin' but I have been a model of restraint. So what does one do during Easter weekend?
For me, I took my kids to school (replacement for holidays), had nasi lemak for breakfast watching "Naruto" on DVD. Then send my son and nephews for badminton lessons and had lunch at Sugimoto's at Sri Hartamas. They have one of the best set lunches where you can choose 3 items from a list of 30+ for your lunch bento. You can choose from sashimi, sushi, teriyaki, scallops, tempura, unagi, etc.
Then its back home to sleep a while and then off to dinner at Fatty Crab. My kids spent time at my cousin KLY's place with their cousins playing PS2 and Wii. We went to a place call de Foodland where they have 40 ways to cook crab but after deciding what we want, we were told, that they were out of crab!!!! A place specializing in crab was out of it by 9pm....what a load of crap!!!!
So we headed back to Fatty Crab at Taman Megah and ordered the usual for us, which was Hot and Sour Crab, fried rice, chicken wings and toasted bread. I haven't been here in a while because the last time (some months back) we were there, they served us small crabs that were not fresh.
We had bigger crabs this time and they were fresh and sweet. The chicken wing was marinated well and was its usual standards. Fried rice was immaterial once you douse it with the hot and sour sauce. Then you only taste the sauce on the rice.
I think I may had too much of it though as I have this sudden urge to hang out at the ceramic throne...if you know what I mean. If you stick around, I will tell you how it went.

Kodak moments bordering on GROSS!
Ok now I got to warn you that I can have a SICK sense of humour. So what I deem to be earth-shatteringly funny can be downright vomit inducingly sick to you. So beware of the following pics as they are PG18.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Peeping tom, not a bad view.
Who said only men scratch their crotch! Looks as if she is looking for some very important documents there.
That is why you get married in a church or some traditional location. Want to stylo and this is what you get in the background. Looks like they are transporting a beached whale!
Always, ALWAYS...check your photo background....ARE YOU BLIND????
Oh for the sake of all things pure!!! That's a dead deer! Get that dog a mate or neutered.
Scooby and Shaggy would never have seen this from Daphne or Velma!
Love is in the air......
Take a few steps back....a little more...and SQUIIISSHHHH!
If you are going to flash...PLEASE work out...and there is always plastic surgery
This is simply hilarious. When you are drunk, anything goes baby! I am sure she won't miss her drink.
What did we JUST say about background and that horny dog???!!! Shoot it for goodness sake!!
Hmmm.....now I have new respect for the dog. Good hiding place dude!!!

Good to know humour is still alive!
Once in a while, it is good to see humour prevailing in a society where dourness and squareness seems to be disguised until the pretense of propriety. Especially here in Malaysia, when certain races go to the extreme of having their women cover the head, arms and feet, separating them from the men in public places as swimming pools, cinema and checkout counters. But it is ok to rape your own daughters and abuse them and it is still ok to cover it up.
So when I saw these pics sent to me, I am glad to know that there is still humour alive in some authorities, albeit not in Malaysia....sigh!
Sucked off?????
Commonly seen. However for Chindians, we have to stand further....;-)
Pls be kind to our pests!
Somebody pls tell our makcik in the tudung to stop dancing on it!!
Honesty is the best policy.
Hmm....I sure hope this machine is not needed by our ministers. Both also no brain, how to use?
Animal activist at his best.
Dog whisperers! My favourite!
It's all biological.
